Increase Student Understanding and Application of a Biblical Perspective, Level 1 (6 hours): How can you help your students increase their understanding and application of a Biblical perspective? By doing 4 Biblical perspective fundamentals: targeting Biblical perspective, asking questions, assessing learning, and meeting student learning needs. In this hands-on workshop, you will:
- Increase your understanding of the 4 Biblical
perspective fundamentals (targeting Biblical perspective,
asking questions, assessing learning, and meeting student
learning needs).
- Identify how you can increasingly focus yourself and
your students on understanding and applying a Biblical
perspective.
- Document effective Biblical perspective questions you
can ask your students.
- Develop an effective Biblical perspective assessment
you can give your students.
- Use the IDEAL process to create a plan to meet 1 of
your students’ learning needs.
- Reflect on your learning.
- Develop action steps to apply your learning.
- Assess your current understanding and application of
the 4 Biblical perspective fundamentals.
- For a given Biblical perspective question, clarify
what the question means, what valued-added content
students will learn, and how students can use your
question when considering issues.
- Enhance 1 Biblical perspective assessment.
- Use the GROW process (Goal, Reality, Options, Will
do) to determine action steps you will take to modify
instruction in order to increase student understanding
and/or application of a Biblical perspective.
- Reflect on your learning.
- This workshop will help you define what it takes to
achieve your mission in terms of student learning,
measure current mission achievement in terms of student
learning, and design action plans to close the gap.
- You’ll focus on a key part of your mission—helping your students increase their understanding and application of a Biblical perspective. You will develop an effective Biblical perspective assessment you can use to measure your students’ understanding and application of a Biblical perspective. You will use the IDEAL process to create action plans to meet 1 of your students’ learning needs.
- Consider how God uses questions.
- Discuss 6 characteristics of good questions.
- Develop questions you can ask your students.
- Document Biblical answers to 1 or more of your
questions.
- Develop action steps to apply your learning.
- Consider questions like, “How does assessment help
students learn?” and “What makes a good Biblical
perspective assessment good?”
- Use 4 criteria to develop an effective Biblical
perspective assessment.
- Practice using 1 or more “hot tips” to make your
assessment even more effective.
