Teach and Assess Biblical Perspective (12 hours)
At Christian schools, we want our students to develop a Christ-centered worldview, to see all of life through the lens of Scripture, to learn about God and His creation. This is a big challenge! One way we address this challenge is by having our students connect what they study with Biblical teaching. Where can you get some help with this challenge? Right here? Participants in this workshop will:
  1. Experience a Biblical perspective lesson.
  2. Get clear on what connecting course content/skills and Biblical teaching is—and is not.
  3. Reflect on how making connections helps your students develop a Christ-centered worldview.
  4. Identify the Biblical teaching you want your students to connect with course content/skills.
  5. Develop an essential question that GRACES your students' worldview understanding.
  6. Design a Biblical perspective assessment that SCOREs.
  7. Design a Biblical perspective lesson that involves your students in connecting course content/skills and Biblical teaching—and that prepares them for the Biblical perspective assessment.
  8. Teach your Biblical perspective lesson and give your students the Biblical perspective assessment.
  9. Reflect on your lesson plan and assessment results in order to modify instruction.



Increase Student Understanding and Application of a Biblical Perspective (6 hours)
How can you help your students increase their understanding and application of a Biblical perspective? By doing 4 Biblical perspective fundamentals: targeting Biblical perspective, asking questions, assessing learning, and meeting student learning needs. In this hands-on workshop, you will:
  1. Increase your understanding of the 4 Biblical perspective fundamentals (targeting Biblical perspective, asking questions, assessing learning, and meeting student learning needs).
  2. Identify how you can increasingly focus yourself and your students on understanding and applying a Biblical perspective.
  3. Document effective Biblical perspective questions you can ask your students.
  4. Develop an effective Biblical perspective assessment you can give your students.
  5. Use the IDEAL process to create a plan to meet 1 of your students’ learning needs.
  6. Reflect on your learning.
  7. Develop action steps to apply your learning.



What Happens in Christ-centered Education? (90 minutes)

How Can Students Develop a Christian Worldview? (90 minutes)

By learning about God and His world, developing Christian character, participating in community, and serving others


Ask Good Questions (90 minutes)
How can you help your students understand and apply a Biblical perspective? By asking good questions. In this interactive workshop, you’ll:
  1. Consider how God uses questions.
  2. Discuss 6 characteristics of good questions.
  3. Develop questions you can ask your students.
  4. Document Biblical answers to 1 or more of your questions.
  5. Develop action steps to apply your learning.

Assessment Helps Your Students Learn (90 minutes)
That’s right—assessment isn’t just for determining grades. You can use assessment to help your students learn, to help your students understand and apply a Biblical perspective. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll:
  1. Consider questions like, “How does assessment help students learn?” and “What makes a good Biblical perspective assessment good?”
  2. Use 5 criteria to develop an effective Biblical perspective assessment.
  3. Practice using 1 or more “hot tips” to make your assessment even more effective.
  4. Develop action steps to apply your learning.

Meet Student Learning Needs to Increase Student Application of a Biblical Perspective (90 minutes)
How? Learn the 5-step IDEAL process. Use the process to define your students’ learning needs regarding understanding and using a Biblical perspective of course content. Explore ways to address learning needs. Develop a plan for addressing student learning needs.
